In order to fit the hull planks together, creating bevel is a crucial step that you don’t want to skip. It seems pretty hard to find the correct bevel and to actually create it, however, we are here to give you some tips to solve this! Let’s go.
What do you need? Hand plane and electric are quite handy for this task. Two thin strips of wood(one long piece and one short piece), and also some clamps.
So step 1, position the long strips on two stations or frames. This strip works as the hull plank that is supposed to be fit in there, it helps you to find the correct bevel.
Step 2. Take the short strip, and hold one end tight to the long strip. Then place the other end on the hull plank.
Step 3. Now you can see the there is a angle between the strip and the plank. So you just have to use a plane to take off some materials. You also need to repeat step 2 while you are having fun in step 3. It is good to check the angle frequently.
Step 4. Repeat step 2 and 3, until the short strip fit perfectly on the bevel.
